Today’s post is in association with Platinum from American Express, as Alexia and I were given the opportunity during our honeymoon to spend 24 hours as Platinum Cardmembers, adding an extra bit of excitement to part of our special trip. As well as a range of other benefits, this meant we had access to the 24/7 Concierge service, which recommended a variety of experiences, across dining, the arts and cultural tours.

Neither of us had ever visited Rome and were very excited to see what the city had to offer!

It was great to have that peace of mind during our stay, knowing that the activities and places Platinum Concierge were recommending had already been thoroughly researched, taking the stress out of worrying whether or not we’d made the right choice. We decided to start our trip by taking a guided tour of the Coliseum, one of the most iconic buildings in Rome and a place both Alexia and I had always wanted to visit. The tour we chose was led by an art historian who gave us a great insight into the how the Coliseum looked when it was first built and the history behind the emblematic landmark. As Platinum Cardmembers we also had access to Wi-Fi network Boingo. With over a million sites worldwide and 57 in Rome alone, we were able to check directions from the hotel en route to make sure we didn’t get lost!

For the evening, our Concierge booked us a table at Il Convivo Troiani. The restaurant itself is hidden away amongst Rome’s winding cobbled streets. As soon as we arrived it felt like a hidden gem, with the main door concealing the inside of the restaurant and graceful waiters who showed us to our table. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and a mix of beautifully presented organic breads and breadsticks cleverly disguised as the table centrepiece. Each course provided its own unique culinary experience and was as delicious as the next. The whole evening was unforgettable and left us wanting to go back and relive the meal all over again!

It was a great opportunity to be Platinum Cardmembers for 24 hours of our honeymoon in Rome. The experience enabled us to tailor our day with excellent recommendations based on our likes and interests. Also, virtually every time you use Platinum you earn Membership Rewards® which can then be redeemed on things such as flights, holidays and shopping. Terms, taxes, fees and charges apply.

Before I went on my honeymoon, I also wish I’d had time to take advantage of the fantastic personal shopping experiences which can be organised by Platinum Concierge at a number of stores from high street to haute couture.

We ended our 24 hours in style due to the complimentary Priority Pass that comes with Platinum, giving you access to over 850 exclusive airport lounges across the world, adding that extra element of luxury to your journey. Below there’s lots of information on the benefits of being a Platinum Cardmember.
